Lactation Consultation
You have decided to breastfeed, but sometimes challenges arise and help is needed. As a breastfeeding mother myself, I have personal experiences in addition to professional training to help you reach your breastfeeding goals. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), the gold standard for clinical lactation care. I am in private practice - meaning, no other organization has influence on my training I receive or care plans I provide. I am dedicated to providing a unbiased comprehensive lactation assessment for you and your child.
When to Use a Lactation Consultant?
Women are sometimes hesitant to contact a lactation consultant because they aren't sure if or when the help of a professional is needed. Although breastfeeding is natural, it is a skill that is learned. Asking for help is a normal part of breastfeeding.
Some areas I can help are:
Cost:
Initial Consult, New Client or a New Problem: $90
Follow-up Consult: $40 for the first hour, $15 for each additional 30minutes.
Multiple Nurslings: Additional Fee of $15 for each 30 minutes past 3 hours.
Most insurance companies are required by law to cover the cost of your appointment. You will pay me at the time of the appointment and I will provide you with the necessary documentation to file a claim with your insurance company. Learn more about your rights here.
Payment Methods:
Cash, Check, Card
Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account card
Venmo or PayPal
What to expect: Initial consultations typically last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you are located within 15 miles of Ocean Springs, I will come to your home for your appointment. If it is furether, appointments can be made at my home. I will spend some time talking with you to get a better understanding of your breastfeeding goals and concerns. I will ask a variety of health questions about you and your baby so that I can understand how your physical or emotional health could be impacting your breastfeeding relationship. I will observe a feeding. If appropriate, I may also observe you pumping or hand expressing. I will give some practical tips for whatever challenges your have. Then, I will provide a detailed care plan to help you get over any hurdles you are facing.
